Extended vacation in Ritzville

We left Spokane for home late in the afternoon on Sunday in 95 degree weather and made t about 70 miles south when we had a bit of car trouble...lost our gauges, engine sputtered. There's absolutely nothing between Spokane and TriCities (150 miles) except Ritzville. Miracle..our motorhome trouble happened within a couple miles of there. We pulled into an RV park, called a mechanic to make an appointment for Monday and spent the night. "No problem. I'm sure we have the parts for a '96 Ford". Not! By 10 a.m. we found out the part might be available in Spokane, so someone drove the 70+ miles to pick it up. We spend a scenic ,relaxing day in the automotive shop's parking lot and driving around the local wheat fields. At least there was a restaurant (truck stop).

The mechanic was great and had us back on the road about 3:30. We barely made it as far as The Dalles before dark. The wind was really ripping in the gorge and the drive was quite scary from Boardman west. Got up early, had a Dutch Bros., coffee and got home about 9:00, just in time for work.
